This plastic sits on the path behind the trap door, and makes the ball path smooth and level. It has a CNC machined end that accepts the trapdoor lip, and countersunk holes for the #4 woodscrews that hold it to the playfield. It is also the correct thickness: this plastic is thicker than a regular clear plastic. Our plastic is designed from an original Williams playfield.
The material is a special high-strength acrylic that we use for this application. It will not break during installation or play.
This part is cut to fit the original Williams playfields. The recent reproduction playfields have to be hand-drilled, and the holes may not be exact. Hwever, there is enough play in the design to make it work. We recommend using our plastic as the template for drilling the mounting holes.
There are other reproductions out there that do not fit the factory layout.
